GoPetFriendly.com and Take Paws, its furry sidekick, were launched on June 1, 2009. We feel we’re in some good company as two of our favorite/fellow pet bloggers – DogJaunt and WillMyDogHateMe – just recently announced their own first birthdays. And another good boy, DoggyBytes, will be rolling over his first calendar in a few weeks.

HIGHLIGHTS

It’s been a year of great happenings. Here our top 10.

1. Our first TV interview.
2. Our first newspaper article.
3. Being named to Dog Guide’s List of Top 20 Dog Sites of 2009.
4. Being discovered by Lifehacker.com.
5. Being named Kim Komando’s Cool Site of the Day.
6. Attending the AKC Meet the Breeds weekend in New York City.
   
7. Attending the first ever BlogPaws convention in Columbus.
   
8. Launching online petition to Give Big Dogs a Break with @AndASmallDog.
   
9. Getting our travel wheels from Winnebago.
10. And, meeting all of you fantastic Twitter followers, Facebook fans, and fellow bloggers along the way.

FAVORITE POSTS

What was your favorite post? Easily, it was one of our most recent (a guest post, in fact, by @BoulderDog1) called 11 Tips for Greeting a Strange Dog. There was an incredible number of tweets, retweets, and comments posted by “seasoned” pet  owners cheering for the underdog and copping to our own transgressions.

My favorite post? It was one I wrote in my third week – We Vote With Our Dollars. It highlights the importance patronizing pet friendly establishments, even if you don’t have your pets with you. If we all do this, we will become a more influential market force … that will persuade more municipalities and businesses to “GoPetFriendly” … which will make it easier for more people to travel with their pets.
