I’m Not Dead – Pet Travel Blog On Break
You may have noticed that the past month or so has been pretty quiet here on the blog. I wish I could tell you that we’ve been out having too much fun and there’s been no time to write, but unfortunately that’s not the case. Most of the past month has been spent in bed, recovering from a bulging disc in my lower back. The dogs have been ignored. The blog has been neglected. I’ve haven’t been able to visit my blogging friends. In fact, trips to the chiropractor have been my only diversion.
That being said, some good things have come from this forced hiatus. I’ve had time to think about the aspects of the blog that I enjoy. I’ve contemplated the challenges of writing a pet travel blog when you’re stationary for the winter months. I had the chance to see what happens to the blog traffic when I’m barely able to make an appearance for more than a month. And, I was able to focus on where I want to see things go in 2013.
In the hustle and bustle of our normal day, it’s not easy to step back and think about our goals to make sure we’re allocating our time effectively. So, this bulging disc was a blessing in disguise. In the quiet hours spent looking at the ceiling, I decided that I would choose two goals for the new year … one personal and one for the business. Choosing only two objectives for the whole year means you have to weed out a bunch of superfluous resolutions and hone on what’s really important. Here’s what I came up with:
For myself – My goal is to do more of the things that bring me joy: doing yoga, reading a book just for fun, taking a walk with Rod and the dogs, spending time with friends, eating good food, experiencing new places.
For the business – My goal is to increase traffic to the GoPetFriendly.com website by 100%.
Taking this to it’s logical conclusion, my litmus test for whether or not to do something in 2013 is: will it increase traffic to GoPetFriendly.com or will it bring me joy? If the answer is no, chances are I won’t be doing it. That means you’ll see some changes here on the blog … but we’ll talk more about that on Thursday for the Pet Blogger Challenge!
