On to Sault Ste. Marie
Leaving Thunder Bay on Trans-Canada Highway 17, we find ourselves heading in the general direction of home. During the next two days, we traveled over the north shore of Lake Superior – one of the most scenic routes we’ve ever driven. Here is one vista from a lookout area that we stopped at for Buster and Ty’s first exercise break.
The Trans-Canada Highway has interesting road signs to warn motorists about moose crossings …
and hundreds of intricate stone stackings made by hitchikers that re-create trail markers made by native Indians.
Before stopping to spend the night at a Travelodge (we started calling it Travelodge-a to give it some panache) in Marathon, we walked Buster and Ty at Aguasabon Falls in Terrace Bay.
The next day, we stopped at dog friendly Batchawana Bay where the boys got a much-deserved beach break.
We stayed at a Comfort Inn in Sault Ste. Marie and joined the Choice Hotels reward program. For clean and simple overnight accommodations that are, by and large, pet friendly, it’s hard to beat the price, convenience, and free breakfasts of these hotel chains.
