We Vote With Our Dollars

If at all possible, we at GPF make it a policy to patronize pet-friendly establishments – period.  If we bring Buster and Ty, all four of us graciously thank management for their thoughtful accommodation.  If we don’t bring the boys, we make it a point to say that we did not bring our dogs this time, but we appreciate the pet friendly policy nonetheless.

Why do we do this?  Because, collectively, we vote with our dollars.  Businesses that receive our votes grow and prosper; those that don’t whither and die.  Pet friendly establishments have, to an extent, gone out on a limb to cater to the needs of the (pet-owning) few, not the (pet-free) masses.  GPF believes it is important to financially support the businesses that emotionally support us.

Longer term, our goal at GPF is to create a groundswell of pet friendly awareness so that people who travel with their pets become an influential market force … that persuades more businesses to “GoPetFriendly” … which makes it easier for people to travel with their pets.  We see it like this:

GoPetFriendly - The Process Wheel

So the next time you have a choice, vote pet friendly!

And just a dog friendly reminder, June 26 is BYDTWD (Bring Your Dog To Work Day).  The key to this day being a pleasant experience for everyone is to make sure your dog is well-trained and well-behaved.

I haven't done much traveling the last several years, but back in 2004 my job required some travel with overnight stays. At that time there weren't many "pet-friendly" hotels/motels and finding them was not easy. You're providing a great resource to help pet owners find pet-friendly establishments. Thank you on behalf of Sweety, Zeus & myself!

Thanks for leaving your comment. The more pet friendly options there are, the more people will travel with their pets. Vacation rentals like yours provide more alternatives for people looking for pet friendly accommodations.
